OS X Hints: Disable Function Lock
By default, OS X is configured to use the special functions (ie. adjust keyboard illumination) on the F1-F10 buttons on the MacBook Pro instead of the regular function (ie. expose). How awkward! 2 keys to access expose instead of 1. And they are on opposing sides of the keyboard. There has to be a fix for this.
Thanks to an archieved post on Mac Forums, the expected behaviour of the function keys can be restored very easily. Turns out there is an option under System Preferences > Keyboard & Mouse > Keyboard > ‘Use all F1, F2, etc. keys as standard function keys’, and once checked, everything works sweetly. 1 button access to expose. Nice.
